Kendall's Birth Story

At 8:06 this morning Kendall McCall Jones was born. The runt of the family; he only weighs 8 lbs 6 oz. He is also a bit shorter than his brother was at 20 inches.

Kendall was born C-section just like his brother. Since the doctors assumed the same things would happen with Kendall that happened with Harrison, this was a decision that was made early on. While it may not be the preferred way to go, having a baby in our arms an hour after we got to the hospital was certainly nice.

As it turns out, there were a couple of things that could have gone wrong had he been born naturally. His umbilical cord was knotted. Luckily it was loose enough that it wasn't a problem, but it may have tightened during the labor and delivery process. Also, the soft-spot on his head is a little small which may have made it difficult for him to mold to the birth-canal.

Mom and Baby are both doing well. Most people are saying that he looks just like Harrison did when he was born. For the most part I agree. I think Harrison had more/darker hair, and of course he was never that small.

I feel like I'm doing Kendall a disservice with this post, but really, everything went so well there isn't a lot to say. We woke up first thing this morning, walked across the street, and had a baby. Or, as Jeremy puts it, we popped across the street to the local 7-11 to pick up a slurpee, some junk food, and a baby while were there.

I love what Jeremy said! That is pretty funny.

Also, any way that gets you a healthy baby is a good way to go. I just feel bad for her recovery, but it sounds like she has lots of good help.

Congratulations!! So glad to hear that he is healthy and that everything went smoothly.

I had one of my babies over general conference weekend too. I thought, "Oh, how nice I will be able to relax and listen to conference in the hospital without interruptions from my other kids." But it didn't really work out that way since I had constant interruptions from nurses instead.

I hope Elisha recovers quickly and gets lots of help. It is always more difficult when there is a toddler to take care of too. Good luck!
