Oscar Party 2012

First: The red carpet arrivals:

Jeremy with Oscar
Jason holding Oscar
Elisha chatting with Oscar
Brandon psyched with Oscar

Jason's a HUGE movie buff, so the Oscar awards are similar to a religious experience. This year, after the nominees were announced, he watched all of them. That's 9 movies in less than a month, and because of his schedule he ended up watching 7 of them in the 6 days leading up to the award ceremony. He was certainly prepared when it came to voting! Yes, we're competitive that way.

According to the rules at the time of the party, Jason was the winner of our Oscar pool. However, rules change so stay tuned to see if a new winner is declared.

To make the party that much more fun, we made (and ate) food that coordinated with each of the movies. Jeremy and Brandon joined Elisha and Jason. Here's how it went:

Oscar invites you to join him on a culinary tour of the world:

Our tour begins where all film tours should begin: Hollywood. Join us as we wet our palettes with movie treats and popcorn inspired by The Artist.

From Hollywood, we will be heading to Oakland to check out an A's game. The team that inspired Moneyball also inspired us to pick up some Cracker Jack.

With the glitz and glamor of California behind us, we'll head to Texas to find out the meaning of it all at the Tree of Life. Hey, while we're in town, how about some pulled-pork barbeque with coleslaw?

Nothing follows a Texas barbeque like some Mississippi Chocolate Pie from our friends The Help.

On to the Big Apple where we'll get Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close with some delicious cinnamon apples.

Time to hop the pond and find us some foreign food. All the recipe books in Europe tell me that Warhorse tastes a lot like beef jerky.

By the time we arrive, it's Midnight in Paris; time for some French Vanilla Ice Cream.

My friend Hugo recommends the escargot...but we played it safe and had French fries.

Our trip isn't over yet. We're going to take the really long way home and stop in Hawaii for some pina coladas. Our Descendants love these refreshing drinks.

Hope you've enjoyed your travels.

Elisha's 31st Birthday

Being Elisha's birthday, she got to choose what to do for her special day. Her parents came down to St. George to celebrate her birthday. Karen, Jeremy, and Brandon, and Nana and Gramps also came to celebrate. A delicious Chinese buffet dinner started the evening. How can you go wrong there? You can't.

We headed back to our house for Wii dancing, Elisha's new favorite past time (with Brandon) and birthday cake. Everyone got in on the dancing action. What a wonderful present! Thanks, also, for all the physical gifts.

The Aquarium

FISHIES!

We headed up to Kaysville to hang out with Elisha's family. Mom, Dad, Christian, Zjani, Jer, Tucker, and Emma all went to the Aquarium, which was so fun! We had a blast watching Tucker and Harrison interact together and get excited about the animals.

The main attraction were the otters. Tucker called them kitties. Cute! The boys freaked when the otters swam in the water, which was placed at the window.

There were also rays to pet. Jason helped Harrison while Zjani helped Tucker.

Daddy and Harrison. Looks like the day's been long!

Our cutie, Kendall. He was so good just hanging out in the stroller.

Zjani and Tucker. It was so funny when Zjani freaked out, thinking we had lost him. Turns out she was holding him.

Grandpa and Emma

To end it all we ate at Crown Burger. What kid doesn't eat the ketchup over fries?
