Easter 2011

Easter was really fun this year, especially with Harrison more able to do things. We attempted to explain the real purpose of Easter, but what 2-year old understands that? So, we just focused on the family and enjoying being together.

Uncle Jeremy thought it would be fun to dye eggs. Notice how Daddy's the one helping? Dyeing the egg (Harrison did most of them) consisted of drawing with crayons and putting the egg in dye. Daddy would put the egg in the dye, and Harrison would stir it. It actually turned out really well.

Aaagh! Don't eat the dye, Harrison. Anytime he got dye on his hands, he wiped his face or body. It looked like war paint afterward!

To be safe, we had Harrison in just his diaper.

Harrison LOVES playing with Uncles Jeremy and Brandon.

To start small and simple we hid plastic eggs and gifts in Harrison's room rather than the yard so that he could actually find the items. And, to make it easier to upload the experience, there are 9 videos. Just watch them in order and you should get the whole experience :)

Kendall also had a good time, chilling most of the time with Namaw.

Kendall: 2 Weeks

Kendall's 2week appointment went well. He had been losing weight in the hospital, but as soon as we started supplementing with formula, he started gaining. Now the stats, as of April 18 stand as such:

Weight: 9 lbs 6 oz
Length: 21.25"
Head: 95%

Kendall's in the high ninetieth percentile in all categories. We're not concerned, as Harrison was the same way and has averaged out.

So far we know that Kendall loves to be held, especially when sleeping. He does not like to be messy with spit up or diapers. And, when it's time to eat, it's now, not later.

Kite Festival

Every April, St. George has a Kite Festival at a local golf course. The first year we went, it was pretty low-key. There weren't any booths, but lots of room and wind to fly a kite. Seeing the sky full of kites is just so fun! Each year it has become more popular. This year there were tons of booths, but faulting in wind.

We were looking forward to going, just to have an experience with Harrison. So, even though we just had a baby 2 weeks ago, the baby stayed at home with Namaw, and we had a day out with Harrison. (Thanks to Jeremy and Brandon for coming to help!)

Harrison loves to see the school buses around town, so we were excited about was the shuttle ride on the school bus and looking forward to Harrison's reaction. You can't tell, but he's excited, just checking everything out.

There was an area for kids to play games. Harrison really enjoyed fishing for ducks. In fact, he threw a fit when we had to give other kids a turn.

Hanging out with Uncle Jeremy. Also a great way to keep Harrison from running away. He was loving the big, open space, so would just take off.

Kendall hanging out back at home. Cutie!

Kendall's Birth Story

At 8:06 this morning Kendall McCall Jones was born. The runt of the family; he only weighs 8 lbs 6 oz. He is also a bit shorter than his brother was at 20 inches.

Kendall was born C-section just like his brother. Since the doctors assumed the same things would happen with Kendall that happened with Harrison, this was a decision that was made early on. While it may not be the preferred way to go, having a baby in our arms an hour after we got to the hospital was certainly nice.

As it turns out, there were a couple of things that could have gone wrong had he been born naturally. His umbilical cord was knotted. Luckily it was loose enough that it wasn't a problem, but it may have tightened during the labor and delivery process. Also, the soft-spot on his head is a little small which may have made it difficult for him to mold to the birth-canal.

Mom and Baby are both doing well. Most people are saying that he looks just like Harrison did when he was born. For the most part I agree. I think Harrison had more/darker hair, and of course he was never that small.

I feel like I'm doing Kendall a disservice with this post, but really, everything went so well there isn't a lot to say. We woke up first thing this morning, walked across the street, and had a baby. Or, as Jeremy puts it, we popped across the street to the local 7-11 to pick up a slurpee, some junk food, and a baby while were there.
