Happy Christmas!

We spent the holiday up north with the McCullough family.  One fun thing that happened was....the snow!  The boys were super excited, but unfortunately, we don't have the right gear.  We went to play with cousins Tucker and Emma, who kindly shared extra gear.

Kendall's ready to go!  Notice the large gloves we had borrow.

Zjani and Elisha were watching the kids play in the fresh snow and thought, "Why not make snow cones with real snow?"  Zjani had some flavoring, so, why not?!  YUM!

Update

Kendall was enjoying the glasses, but more so the play chicken leg.

Harrison had to join in on the chicken leg.  Funny kids.

Sweet moment for Daddy and Kendall.

Harrison loves to take pictures.  Here's the latest: yummy cupcakes!

Now we have 2 cleaners!  Such great helpers...usually.

Harrison likes to share.  Usually, though, what he means by sharing is that he gets to eat another person's food.  No request needed.

Harrison brought out all his play food and organized it.  He even cleaned it up after he threw it all across the room!

Our washer gave out.  It's been getting louder and louder over the last year, but it started screaming and sounding like metal scraping metal, it was obvious the time had come to move on.  We have been lucky that there has always been a washer and dryer in the places (all two of them).  It was even more apparent to Elisha that a new washer was needed after trying to hand wash the towels that were left in the load that didn't get completed.  The hot water gave her blisters on her knuckles.

After doing some research and asking around, we thought we'd go to Sears (sorry, Dad).  On the way, we stopped at Boulevard Home Furnishings.  They were having the sale of the year, literally.  The door buster for the front loader washer and dryer was too good to pass.  We were sold!  They are great, and sooo very quiet.  Yes, we got the set, and stacked them, too.

Date with Mom

It has seemed that since he is now 3 years old, Harrison is needing more one-on-one attention.  Since this next year is going to be difficult to spend time that way with Jason going finishing up his teaching degree and Elisha teaching full time a date seemed to be in order.  Not to mention Harrison has a lot of Daddy time, but rarely any Mommy time.  St. George does a fun movie in the park, so Elisha decided that would be a perfect opportunity to go on a date.

On the way, we went to Iceburg - took our own ice cream cones.  I know!  You're asking, "Why?"  Moola, my friend.

Harrison really wanted to ride the carousel, but it wasn't working.  He was pretty bummed.

His inflatable 'Cars' bed saved the day!  He didn't want to sit in the lawn chair, but hanging out in his sleeping bag bed was awesome!

The movie was 'Rio.'  Elisha loves it because it reminds her of her mission in Brasil.  Just last week Harrison heard us talking about going to Brasil.  When we arrived home, he exclaimed, "But I wanted to go to Brasil!"  In 4 years, for the Olympics!  Anyone want to go with?

Jason's Favorite Things Birthday

Jason's birthday is always a fantastic event!  This year was no different.  Jason likes to go rough camping, but the last couple years have been too rough, especially for the kids.  So, we went camping at his mom's and brother's.  Perfect!

If you don't know yet, the perfect number is 8.  That's exactly what month and day Jason's birthday is on!  It's also when the fair is, so that became part of the festivities.  First, we had a wonderful dinner by brother, Jeremy.  The pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches were to die for!  Add perfectly decorated cupcakes and you got a complete birthday dinner!

Elisha had created a crossword puzzle just for Jason. He got stumped on a few clues, but they all had to do with him.  Isn't the internet wonderful?  Such great, free programs.

After dinner, Jeremy, Brandon, John, Elisha, Jason, Harrison, and Kendall headed to the fair, just up the street.  We wandered around, and checked out the goods.  Jason signed Kendall up for the baby contest.  Jeremy and Elisha took the boys to the petting area.  Such fun animals.  There were huge horses and even a miniature horse with a foal.  So fun!  Harrison laughed when the big horse lipped his finger when he fed it.

Elisha also entered the ice cream eating contest.  Eating a pint would be no problem!  But, when she sat down, a 1.5 quart of vanilla ice cream was placed in front!  Um, that wasn't expected.  The cute old lady next to her also was told it'd be a pint.  So, the race was on!  Elisha took two huge bites, then froze - literally.  From then on, it was a normal speed and spoonfulls.  The cute lady was eating daintily.  She's 68 years old; just needs something fun to do.  Know the funny part?  Harrison was standing right there, watching Elisha eat ice cream, and bawling.  "Mommy's not sharing!"  Too funny!  Elisha didn't win, especially when first gets $20, second $10, and third $5.  After ice cream, we all got funnel cake!

After the fair, we had more partying to do! After roasting s'mores (we're camping, remember) we HAD to play some games.  Jason LOVES games.  Even though it was late, we played.  Elisha's mom had given Jason a Game Bible, which has tons of games and Jason wanted to try some out.  We played one where partners were each trying to get four of a kind.  Once one of them attained that goal, they did their secret signal to the other.  If anyone caught on, the point was taken away.  The other game required thinking.  Some of us could do that.  One player created a pattern, while others tried to guess the pattern by laying down cards.  Tricky!  Though algebra was attempted at one point, that never came up.

Another favorite thing of Jason's is movies!  Elisha had obtained a projector, and with Jeremy's laptop and white table cloth hung outside, we had a drive-in movie!  Fantastic and so much fun.  The movie of the night was Sherlock Holmes.  What a great day!

The next day, Jeremy, John, Elisha, Jason, Harrison, and Kendall all went swimming.  The boys love swimming; Kendall more than Harrison.  Later in the day, Elisha still had a scavenger hunt up her sleeve for Jason to do.  Just our family went to Harmon's where Jason was given clues to various items, conveniently also on our shopping list.  Some stumped him, like 'Is it a football player or a drink?'  OJ!  hehe  Jason was especially happy for an indoor activity.

Jason, happy THIRTY-FIVE!!!  We all love you and would hate to know what it's like without you.  You're amazing and so supportive.  Thank you for your wonderful self!

McCullough Trip: Day 2

Day 2 of the family 'camping' trip was certainly entertaining!  Shea and Zjani decided to plan their activity together.  They gave everyone a couple hours, saying there would be a face painting contest.  Each group had to paint one child, or person in Mom, Dad, and Christian's group.
Kendall started out as a lion, but hewas too wriggly for Jason.  He also enjoyed eating the, thankfully, non-toxic paint.

We begged Harrison to get his face painted.  He was adamant about not having any paint touch him.  Then Elisha asked, "What if we paint your arm?"  Oh, he loved that idea!  When asked what we could paint: "An orange rectangle."  After he joined in the painting, well, the above is what came out.

Alex wanted to paint Shea's face, too!

Shea and Cat had the idea to paint Alex as a pirate.  But, as seen below, Tucker was one!  So, they quickly changed him into a biker.  Looked awesome!

Pirate Tucker.  Arrr!
Christian giving Mom a facial.  Nope!  Painting a butterfly.

Her eyes are actually closed!  Yeah, they won the contest.

Grandma had a super fun bug hunt with the grandkids.  They thought it was the funnest.  She gave each one a bag with gummy bugs, which look too real, and bug catching gear.  There were bugs, gummy and finger puppets, for the kids to 'catch.'

The kids with their bags

Zjani's NOT a bug person, so it was fun to see her give Tucker his bugs.  We even sang The Eesny Weensy Spider for her.
All the kids loved the trampoline.  Here's Harrison sneaking in a last moment.

Kendall thought the trampoline was hilarious.

Crazy static hair!

Being together as a family, even for just a short period, was wonderful.  We always appreciate our parents doing this for us.  Family's what it's all about!
