Harrison is one year old!!! It has truly flown by so fast, especially since everyday is full of fun and wonder with Harrison.
Harrison's birthday party was originally set for St. George, but due to last minute family circumstances, it was moved to SLC (sorry, again, for the change!). The party was everything we hoped for. Thanks to Uncles Jeremy and Brandon for the fun cowboy decorations and costumes.
Harrison LOVES puppies (pup-pup). What a fun surprise to open a present from Dean, Carol, and John with a puppy inside! That puppy has been well loved, since. Mommy has named him Chocolate.
Harrison and Mommy had practiced singing "Happy Birthday" and even blowing air before the big event. He loves the song, but we should have used a real flame in practice, because he didn't want to blow out the candle on his cake; he wanted to grab at it, and got mad when we told him 'no'. We'll work on that for next year.
There were two cakes. Brandon gave his cake to the cause for us all to eat (sooo nummy!) and Mommy made the smash cake, cut like a horse head.
Smash cakes are a new idea in the McCullough family, but when we heard about it a few years ago, we knew we had to do it! Who doesn't envy that baby getting cake all over, up and down, and squishy? We'd all personally like to have our own smash cake, right?
Harrison started slow with his smash cake. Maybe the coconut deterred him a little (which was hilarious to pull out of his nose after his bath), but the horse's mane was frosting so that became the attack. After a couple go's, it didn't take Harrison long to demolish the cake. Thanks to Jer and Christian for showing him how to put frosting all over his head:) Made for great-looking bath water!
Here's the aftermath of Harrison's cake. Poor horsey!
Thanks to ALL for an absolutely WONDERFUL 1st birthday!!!
