Happy Groundhog Day!

Okay, I know that Groundhog Day was over a week ago, but I didn't want to let it pass without mention.

I love this holiday. (It's not really a holiday, it's an observance, but I think school should be closed for it anyway.) It may seem silly, and no one really believes that a little rodent really has the power to decide our weather fate for the next six weeks, but I just love the concept. I love that on this day, February 2nd, we collectively put our hope into something. For one tiny moment early in the morning we all hold our breath and hope that the groundhog will see what we want him to see. I think that if, as a nation, we were willing to focus as a whole on a single goal more often, maybe things might be different in this world.

Or maybe I just like that once a year I have an excuse to watch this hilarious movie. I actually think about it every year, but this year is only the second time that I've actually seen Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day. We had a fun little get together for dinner and a movie. It ended up being a nice little triple date with the Owens', the Radford's and ourselves. I think the guys would be up for doing it every year, but Tycee and Elisha didn't seem to enjoy the repetitive nature of the film.

By the way, I guess this year our little friend has decided that we deserve six more weeks of winter. Oh, well. I guess we will just have to wait 'til March 20th for the first day of spring. Unless you live in St. George, where spring always starts a little early.

I liked this movie, but I will agree that it is a little too repetitive. Happy late Groundhog Day.

I love that movie and have never watched it on the observed day. I think the groundhog is actually usually pretty accurate. I mean, it has snowed the past 2 days up North. I hate it when he see's his shadow. I also think you need to have a little party this weekend at your place since we will be down there!!! Ok, I guess it doesn't have to be a party, but we really want to get together.
