Homecoming 2010

When we were first dating, Elisha told Jason she had never been to any formal dance, let alone Homecoming. So, Jason created one for Elisha, which is also coincidentally when he proposed 5 years ago. Now it's a tradition that we do every year. He always asks in a cute, creative way, and has luckily always been told yes! It's really just a fun time we get to celebrate "us."

This year's Homecoming was on Saturday, September 11 in Salt Lake. The other half of our group was Jason's brother, Jeremy, and his date, Brandon. They were a blast!

One thing you have to know about Homecoming is that Elisha never knows any of the activities or places. It's all a surprise, so very suspenseful, in an exciting way.

Our day event was super fun: ice blocking! Have you ever been? If not, GO! You just need a block of ice, conveniently purchased at the local grocery store, and a towel. You find a hill, climb it, put the towel on the block of ice no bigger than your bum, sit and slide!

Here's Brandon being the first brave soul to ice block.

Here's Jason...trying to ice block.

Gotta love Jeremy's laugh in this one!

Elisha, a little more uncertain.

Okay, now for the pros to show off!

The brothers, Jason & Jeremy, racing.

After trying spending our time on the smaller, yet challenging mound, the guys wanted to attempt "The Hill." It looked too monstrous for Elisha, so she took the chance to film the whole episode.

Deciding...

Yeah, Jason was tricked into going down alone. In the end, they all took turns. How gentlemanly.

Here goes Jeremy!

Now Brandon.

After ice blocking, Jason and Jeremy took Elisha and Brandon to the Ellerbeck Mansion in downtown SLC to get pretty for the evening. The mansion is a bread and breakfast; very quaint and comfortable. We stayed in the Spring Breeze room, which felt warm, and even had a balcony! At night, they leave a chocolate on your pillow and you can even go to the fridge and take a soda, which Jason loved.

Jeremy chose a delicious restaurant for dinner at Sapa Sushi & Grill. If you want real ambiance, sit outside and enjoy the view!

After dinner, we went to see Desert Star Playhouse's production of "My Big, Fat, Utah Wedding." We have never laughed so hard in our lives! It used Utah-Mormon culture, making simple situations turn ridiculous. If you ever have the opportunity to see it, GO!

Here's the cast after the show, and their oleo, a separate part of the show.

After the show, the couples went their separate ways, Jason and Elisha back to the mansion.
The weekend was fantastic! Homecoming is always a treat, and truly enjoyable. Can you believe Jason is already scheming for 2011?

Learning as We Go

.
So, being first time parents gives us opportunities to make funny decisions. One such decision is waiting until ALL the diapers are gone, getting desperate, and trying to remember how mom did it with cloth. Harrison had such a moment. Thankfully we had plastic pants!

Harrison has finally received his first black eye. This is not due to our first time parenting. He was simply playing with Elisha's flat iron (cold). Hey, it was cold! But, he tripped on the cord and as he fell, the iron pinched his little face. So sad!

Jason rides his motorcycle everyday, and Harrison envies him. Whenever there's a rumbling, it's Daddy's bike. Here's Harrison practicing for the all=too-distant future. Oh, and of course he signs motorcycle.

Pine Valley Camping

Jason wanted a getaway campout for his birthday (August 8th), so we headed to Pine Valley. It was beautiful there. Good thing, too, since we took other people's advice in going there, not pre-viewing it. We were super lucky to have Jason's brother Jeremy, Brandon, cousin John, and Mom join in the celebration. (Sorry, I didn't take many pictures)

Pine Valley is good, ole fashioned camping with tents. We were lucky to be in the equestrian section, so Harrison had fun visiting the horses nearby.

We had the awesome treat of a lightening-thunder storm. It was above us all night long. Harrison only woke up because of a wet diaper, not the pounding thunder and rain. Poor Mom and John got rained out and headed back home. Good thing they came back for breakfast. To keep Harrison entertained, we let him play inside the car, which drained the batteries.

Harrison is obviously not used to long sleeves:)

Waking up with Mommy & Daddy

Great Grandma Kendall

We were able to spend some time with Great Grandma Clara Kendall (Jason's Grandma). It was really nice, and especially with her brother, sister-in-law, and sister visiting as well. So, we took the opportunity to take pictures.

McCullough Family Trip 2010

.
Every year Elisha's family, the McCullough's, plan a weekend to spend together. The original plan this year was to go camping, but all the sites were taken up or not conducive for 2 babies. So, Mom and Dad (Grandma & Grandpa) wonderfully created a comfortable family trip close to home the end of July.

Our first day, Friday, was spent at the Roy City water park. This was SO much fun and super family friendly! We all had a blast, even the little guys. Definitely a fun way to spend a summer day.

Grandma gave this swimming suite/life vest to Harrison. Mommy liked it for the sun protection and bouncy, but Harrison hated the extra padding. It didn't last too long. Guess he's not ready for muscles.

Mr. Tucker (5months) enjoying the water. He tired out pretty fast.

Harrison headed out with Grandpa.

Putting on the sunblock.

Tucker and Zjani so happy to be in the sun.

After the water park and getting changed, we all drove up to Deer Valley - awww, coolness. We just enjoyed the rest of the evening in our fabulous cabin (sorry, no photo. See the Jackson's blog for more). Thanks to Zjani & Jer for dinner!

Saturday we played in Park City. The original plan was to ride the ever popular alpine slide, but we all decided to check out the coaster. This was way fun, as far as scenic, but a long wait in the sun. Also, it was easier to control, and I was not afraid of sliding off the track like on the alpine slide:) Same price, too.

We (Jason & Elisha) watched Tucker while everyone else went riding. Looks pretty excited, huh? How 'bout that cool hat?

A very frightened Jason.

Cool bridge, which Zjani, who hates bridges, didn't even remember. Go figure.

Whew! Elisha made it back!

A Park City trip would not be complete if we didn't head to Main Street. We never buy anything, but it's tradition.

Hmmm, the new family photo.

Thanks again, McCullough's, for a wonderfully lovely weekend:)
